Chiropractic FAQ

Our expert chiropractic staff has heard plenty of common and outrageous chiropractic questions over the years. "What can chiropractors help with?" "Will it be painful?" "Am I the right candidate for acupuncture therapy?" While our staff can answer each and every one of your questions, there are a few common ones that we've heard time and time again. So, we developed a list of the most frequently asked questions on chiropractic services. Hopefully, you can answer your question through our handy chiropractic FAQ.

What can chiropractors help with?

Chiropractors are trained to alleviate pains that are derived from spinal issues and improve the mobility of your joints. But, chiropractic services can help you with so much more than your spinal problems. Chiropractors can assist with other bodily pain points, like carpal tunnel syndrome or ear infections. The question shouldn't be, "what can chiropractors help with;" instead you should ask, "what can't they help with."

Do chiropractors really help?

Yes we do. Spinal problems are often the root cause of your pains and chiropractors can make short work of your pain problems. They've been specifically trained to locate the source of your pain, identify immediate ways to remedy it and develop in-depth treatment plans to assist you along your recovery journey. Chiropractors can actually help you when they fully understand your problems and develop personalized treatment plans for you. Learn more about our chiropractic approaches.

What can chiropractic care help with?

Chiropractic care can help decrease stiffness, aches, and pains, and improve joint mobility. Chiropractic adjustments can aid in improving your posture and decreases any muscle spasms you may experience. And chiropractic care can identify underlying muscle issues that need correction, helping you spot problems that you didn't even know existed!

Is chiropractic care safe for my cartilage?

Yes. Chiropractic care can actually keep your joint cartilage healthy. Regular appointments and adjustments help realign your muscles and joints, thus helping keep your cartilage healthy.

What kinds of things can chiropractic services treat?

Chiropractic can successfully treat headaches, neck and upper back pain. It reduces shoulder pain, numbness, or tingling in the hands. It's also effective on carpal tunnel syndrome and low back pain. If you have hip pain, knee pain, or sciatica, you will also find chiropractic helpful.

But you don't have to be in pain to get value from chiropractic care. If you simply want to stay healthy, regular chiropractic care can improve your overall health.

What differentiates Ideal Health Chiropractic from the competition?

We understand you have a choice when it comes to chiropractors, so we differentiate ourselves in a few ways. First and foremost, we respect your personal time: we don't make your appointment too long or too short, and we minimize your "homework." Since no two people are the same, we develop personalized treatment plans for each client so you know you're getting the best treatment possible. And that treatment plan may draw upon multiple areas of our expertise (e.g., chiropractic care fused with massage therapy). Learn more about our unique differences.

Do you have to crack my spine for it to work?

No, we offer traditional chiropractic care or a gentle, “no pop” approach. Whichever you feel comfortable with, we are happy to provide.

How often should I see my chiropractor?

This is a terrific question, but it is entirely subjective. Your frequency at the chiropractor depends on your state of pain. You can read more about it in our blog.

Do I need more specialized chiropractic care?

A 15-minute full body adjustment could be exactly what you need to alleviate your pain. However, sometimes that adjustment just can't deliver the kind of results you need. If you need more effective treatments for your pain, then our physical therapy modalities could be the best option for you!

In addition to your full body adjustment, we can improve your pain treatment by leveraging:

  • Ultrasound/Electric stimulation therapy
  • Handheld massagers
  • Foam rollers
  • Stretching therapy
  • Custom orthotics
  • And other therapeutic exercises

Is acupuncture safe?

Absolutely. Our expert staff have practiced acupuncture techniques hundreds of times, so there is no risk of accidental injury during the therapy. Many clients have stated that acupuncture can "sting" or feel "uncomfortable" in the moment, but you'll often experience great results quickly after the therapy.

How is acupuncture done?

Depending on your pain area, our experienced acupuncturist will insert tiny thin needles through the skin at certain points of the body. These needles can be heated or chilled, depending on your treatment. From there, the needles will be left in the body for anywhere between 5-30 minutes until they are removed. I've booked an appointment, but I can no longer go. What do I do?

We understand that unexpected things can come up. If something happens and you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us a call to let us know. The cancellation fee may be applied, but it can waived for certain situations. We ask that you let us know at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment.
